It’s Getting Busy up in Here!
Things are in constant motion around here so why shouldn’t work do the same? I’m happy to report a couple of good things on my horizon.
First, BookSavvy PR has officially launched but we’ve been busy for the past few months. I mentioned something a while back but now it’s official. We have a web site and a few blog posts ready to go. BookSavvy PR came about because of Sharon Bially’s passion to help all authors, self-published and traditional, create a buzz for their books. I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with Sharon and she has taught me so much. Where I exceed in enthusiasm, I lack in experience. I promise not to cross my wires with my own social media content with BookSavvy PR marketing because I don’t want to be THAT person in your Twitter feed. However, feel free to check out the site and if you know a soon-to-be published author on the hunt for some wild and crazy always professional PR gals, we’d be happy if you’d point them in our direction.

Second, a local magazine, Simply KC, whom I queried about a year ago-I had received a Thanks but we’re all set-called me up and asked if I was still interested in writing for them. I accepted so I’m now in three local magazines.
Third, one of my editors recommended me to a sister magazine of theirs in the Albany, New York area (HERLIFE New York) and they have asked me to write the monthly cover story as well as the business spotlights each month. It’s a great opportunity and it’s a huge compliment since I’ve only been writing for HERLIFE Magazine here in Kansas City for a few months, with my first piece with them just published in December. That makes magazine number 4.* Yikes. Did I mention that I also work at BookSavvy PR?**
I’m very grateful but a tad overwhelmed. So if you don’t hear a tweet from me for a while or see my blog is starting to collect cobwebs, I’m probably chugging coffee and doing squats at my desk between interviewing, writing, pitching, and trying not to forget I have kids. GAH!!!
*I don’t like to do self-promotion posts, but I felt I had to explain my upcoming random appearance until I get into a work rhythm (i.e. get organized).
**I’m sure I’ve just jinxed myself and will be fired from all jobs before the end of the month. In that case, please hire me.
What’s new on your end? If you’ve got some good news, please share!
I'm a midwest gal living vicariously through books, writing, her crazy family, and a few great friends. My blog covers all of the above as I attempt to figure out what the hell I'm doing at any given moment.

Congrats on all of the irons in the fire. That’s great news and well deserved! I will definitely check out your PR site. Coffee soon?
You got it! I tried to leave a comment on your blog but it kept directing me to log in to Google and start a blog. I wanted to tell YOU congratulations on your awesome progress and to keep it up! It’s hard when the scale doesn’t change but I don’t care as long as my clothes fit better. Stronger is better, for sure. xo
HALLIEEEEE!!! I can’t even express how happy I am for you! Two monthly magazine stories on top of the other exciting things you have going on is HUGE! I remember when we were celebrating your freelance assignment with you, and it’s amazing how much more you’ve accomplished in such a short time. I’m not at all surprised, though! So, so, so, so excited! Hugs!
Don’t get too excited! Writing for local/regional magazines has been great experience and I’m hoping it will lead to some bigger pay down the road. I just hope I’m not burning the candle at both ends. We shall see! Thanks for the hug…I needed it!
Congratulations on all the good news and happenings! Like Natalia, I remember when we were celebrating your first success. That feeling of being in constant motion, of fearing you’ll jinx yourself, of needing to get organized… ME TOO. I have a trillion things going on in opposite directions too, so I know how you feel. More hugs from me, too… and send some back to me, too, please
This is awesome!!! I love hearing what you’re up to and so do all of your readers so do NOT apologize for letting us know.
I love what Julia said about remembering the first magazine piece for you. I remember that too. We are all becoming old blog friends by now.
Wow. I read Bially’s Veronica’s Nap last year and absolutely LOVED it. Look forward to keeping up with your blog this year.
Good luck!
Hallie,
Congrats!!
This is all such wonderful news! When one door opens, they all do
I’m so GLAD you did a promotional post! How else will we find out all these wonderful things? Very happy for you!
PS. On top of all of the above, you figured out how to post book cover thumbnails on Facebook.
