Meryl Streep, Movies, and Maine…ALL in my Mailbox
Today I was pleasantly surprised when one of my kiddos handed me a weighty manilla envelope, you know, the kind that makes a book lover’s heart skip a beat. I was expecting a book in the mail but when I opened the parcel, it wasn’t the one I had expected!I recently agreed to be a book blogger for SheReads.org yet this wasn’t the book they are supposed to be sending me. I just heard of this book from a blog post by the author on www.wordsxo.com. Mia March lives in Maine and wrote a post for Julia’s blog (she ‘s also a Mainer) about how Maine played a part in her novel.
She had a giveaway and I didn’t win. But lo and behold, I have a copy sitting right here on my desk! I am thrilled to have it but stumped as how I got it. It came directly from the publisher so I think this is my first official “you blog about books therefore we are sending you this book.” I think.
However I got it, I am extremely thankful. I love books set on a coastal locations. If done right, I can almost feel the salty spray on my face and hear the rolling crash of waves as they break on the shore as I flip the pages. I look forward to basking in this book, living vicariously through its beach-infused banter since my immediate surroundings only offer rolling waves of grain. And it’s dead.
I can’t wait to crack open this book, and if anything, to take me away from the brown and scorched to the blue and breezy.
What are you reading this weekend?
What is your favorite coastal setting book?

I'm a midwest gal living vicariously through books, writing, her crazy family, and a few great friends. My blog covers all of the above as I attempt to figure out what the hell I'm doing at any given moment.

I have a copy of this book and plan to start reading soom. It’s getting great reviews. The mail is my favorite part of the day.
I got a copy of this book too and was just as confused as you! It was a pleasant surprise, though…I was hoping to read it!
What a fun surprise! I’m looking forward to that particular book. It had me at the title!
Awesome surprise! Feel free to pass it along my way when you finish : )
There’s nothing like that book package in the mail! So much fun. I am looking forward to reading this book, too.
What a happy coincidence! I’m so glad you’ll get to read the book, Hallie! As you know from my post, I recently read it too — it’s a great book and I’m so happy to have been able to meet the author, too. Thanks for the shoutout, too, aren’t you sweet!
