My writing pals

I am a sucker for a fuzzy face. How could you not? Look at this guy.

This a sweet little Wheaten Terrier that we came across yesterday and we couldn’t say no.  We didn’t buy him on a whim but let’s say that we didn’t set out on Sunday to add to the family chaos.   The area pet store was supposed to let us know when they received a Wheaten in from their breeder in Iowa.  They didn’t.  This little guy had only been in the store for 3 days when we decided to go look “for the heck of it.”

We strolled in and saw him, totally not expecting to see a Wheaten because as I stated earlier, they were supposed to call us.  There were two of them.  A sister and a brother. The girl was spoken for because the owner had called someone else on the list that had dibs on a female Wheaten, hopefully the person ahead of us.  Ahem.

Nonetheless, the stars had aligned just so that we couldn’t ignore the signs. An unexpected visit, he was a boy, and he had the perfect disposition all seemed too coincidental.

Again, this face.

Before anyone criticizes me for not going to the local animal shelter, let me explain. We have to get a full-bred hypoallergenic dog because of family allergies.  With a shelter, the dog may look like a certain breed but it might be that the dominant features look like a hypoallergenic breed.  Also, we had to get a puppy because of old dog and her control issues.  Any dog that was her size or bigger would cause major problems.  She has done great so far and puppy seems to know who is boss.

Here is the boss:

Kelsey is about 9 years old in this picture (she is now almost 13).  This old gal is losing her sight a bit now and her hearing isn’t as good anymore.  We hope the new fuzzy face will give her a little spark and, in turn, she’ll show him the ropes of doggy life.  Before her health fails.  And she starts to pee all over the house.  Not looking forward to doggie hospice.

There might be a new page in my blog dedicated to new puppy/old dog.  They are just too cute not to share with you.  Hope you enjoy my doggy chronicles along with my writing stuff.

A year later!
