Ep. 16 - Healthy Boundaries For a Healthy Life

In today’s podcast, I’m talking about boundaries and why they are so important to our health.

When we neglect to set healthy boundaries in our lives, our nervous systems also get neglected. And when the nervous system takes a beating day in and day out, our overall health suffers immensely.

In this episode, I share some examples from my own life of where boundaries were needed as well as when I did and how my health benefitted when I did. I also share some tips from two books I’m reading right now (listed in the Show Notes).

I’m back! I’m so excited about this new year and what’s coming up in the podcast, starting with this beautiful soul.

In today’s episode, my friend, Alicia Hill, shares her tale of overcoming life toxicity. She talks about leaving her hometown to get away from toxic family relationships, how she handled mold toxicity in her home, and the mental health work she’s done to rid her life of toxic behaviors and people in order to live as her most authentic, intentional, and healthy self.

We covered a lot but I think you’re going to love hearing her story.

Ep. 13 - Books That Will Change Your Life (a Series), Part 4: The Way of Integrity by Martha Beck

This is the final book in the Books That Will Change Your Life Series, at least for now. :)

Today, I’m discussing The Way of Integrity, Finding the Path to Your True Self, by Martha Beck, “a four-stage process that anyone can use to find integrity, and with it, a sense of purpose, emotional healing, and a life free of mental suffering.”

This book has been so transformative in my process of finding alignment in my life and played a massive part in the creation of this podcast.

It’s one of the easier-to-read self-help books out there because of Martha’s conversational writing style. She’s witty and wise and holds nothing back in sharing her own journey of rising out of her darkest days as she helps her readers climb out of their own depths of despair and reconnect to their true selves.

Episode 12 - Jen Gilhoi, Having the Flight of Her Life!

Today’s guest is my friend, Jen Gilhoi, founder of Sparktrack, a marketing consulting firm, and co-founder of ZeroProof Collective, where business leaders and the non-alcoholic beverage industry come together to connect, collaborate, and share resources to advance zero-proof options for the sober community.

We discussed the role sobriety has played in her life, how her entrepreneurial journey started, the transformative experience she had in Mexico and how it inspired her 50th birthday celebration, and how by following her intuition, she’s heading in a direction she’d never dreamed of.

I hope this conversation inspires you to also follow what feels in alignment with you and to trust your intuition. You just might be amazed at all the places you’ll go!

Episode 11 - Books That Will Change Your Life (A Series), Part 3: Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Dr. Joe Dispenza

Today, I’m discussing this powerful book and why it can be life-changing for readers. I share some of the most impactful parts for me as well as some examples from my own life.

Reading this was a little bit biology, a little bit psychology, and by the end, felt like a whole lot of therapy. I understood a lot more about my past behaviors and gave me a lot of clarity about why I was stuck in certain aspects of my life.

I honestly think this should be required reading for young adults because I wish I would have read this at that age.

Episode 10 - Passion for the Game on and off the Field with Avarie Howard

Today's guest is my daughter, Avarie. I swear I’m not playing favorites. ;) But I do think she’s got a great story to tell!

She's a former student-athlete, recently graduated from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and is currently making her way in the world of sports broadcasting and media.

Today, we talk about her playing soccer as a young athlete and what it took to progress to becoming a college athlete, using her passion for sports on and off the field to guide her down a path to sports broadcasting, and even a little advice to young women and their parents about pursuing dreams similar to hers.

Dreams come true when passion meets confidence and she’s a great example. Can’t wait for you to meet her!
